It’s how you appear to your clients and prospects. It’s the first impression you make on someone looking at your company. It works for you 24/7. Then, just as important, is how you are going to be found. The search engine feature of the web is the greatest marketing opportunity for a company-ever!
So where do you start? Every site needs a name, you can check out the name you’re considering at several sites, do a search for “domain names” and start searching. The site I use is http://www.godaddy.com/

Take a look at the magazines web sites that the leaders in your industry advertise in, and check out Media Brains, a leader in the b2b online industrial directory and contextual advertising. This link displays a great list of the business titles they manage.
Beyond the web. The other 50 to 70% of your budget. I have a client that markets nationally and does not use the internet because of personal preference. He uses print ads, public relations, direct mail, and new product development. The company is successful and demonstrates that the web isn’t the only way to market.
I have another client that had to cut their print advertising budget recently. The result; less traffic on their web site.
Without the other 70 percent of the marketing budget/effort, the web site as a salesperson suffers. Awareness building requires companies to use all the communication and promotional tools.

Google captures over 60% of the search engine marketing activities in every category. Studies show most business searches start on Google. In the month of August 2009, people initiated almost 8 Billion searches on Google. Yahoo is second on this list with 1.7 Billion searches. Your efforts must start with the leaders in the search business. I’m not suggesting that you spend any of your web marketing dollars with them, but that you do everything possible to increase your ranking on their pages.
